If the 2014-15 WNBA Playoffs started today in the Western Conference, we would have the #1 seeded Phoenix Mercury vs. #4 San Antonio Stars. Led by Diana Taurasi, Phoenix won the season series 3-1 and with a 28-5 record, tied a league record for most wins. The Stars would love to give Becky Hammon a great sendoff with a WNBA championship before the women’s great moves on to become the San Antonio Spurs assistant coach.

The Minnesota Lynx have locked up the #2 seed. Maya Moore leads a three-headed attack on the offensive side powering the Lynx with Lindsey Whalen and Seimone Augustus. The Lynx will probably take on Candace Parker’s Los Angeles Sparks. Minnesota took three out of four games from L.A. during the regular season, but look for Parker and Kristi Tolliver to get them a fight to get out of the first round.

In the Eastern Conference playoffs, the Atlanta Dream are 19-14 and have locked up the current #1 spot in the East. The Dream are currently set to play (4) Chicago Sky in the first round. The Dream, the only team to finish above .500 in the Eastern Conference, actually lost the season series against the Sky 3-2.

In the other Eastern match, we see Tamika Catchings’ #2 seed Indiana Fever take on (3) Washington Mystics with the series tied 2-2. They play their fifth match on the penultimate day of the regular season.
